David Mudge

David Mudge

A/Professor David Mudge is currently a full-time Consultant Nephrologist at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane and Visiting Nephrologist at Redland Hospital, including responsibility for a 12-station satellite haemodialysis unit. He cares for patients with all stages of chronic kidney disease as well as dialysis patients and kidney transplant recipients.

David is currently a member of the Medical & Scientific Advisory Committee for Kidney Health Australia, a member of the CARI Guidelines Steering Committee, and the Coordinator of Postgraduate Education for the Scientific Program and Education Committee of the ANZSN.

His research interests include iron status and iron supplementation in CKD and transplant patients, peritoneal dialysis outcomes, and the use of honey to prevent infections in dialysis patients. He has published widely in nephrology including several randomised, controlled trials and the first international guideline on the treatment of ANCA-associated vasculitis.

David is also involved in the education of nephrology trainees, particularly in promoting the use of ultrasound and other procedures amongst the next generation of nephrologists.
