inclusion Acute symptomatic urinary infection confirmed by urine culture
And at least one of the following: fever, dysuria, frequency, incontinence, febrile convulsions, offensive urine, macroscopic haematuria, malaise, anorexia
exclusion Paediatric bag sample, indwelling catheter, nosocomial UTI\'s, predisposing causes; urological/nephrological, Neurological, Medical treatments - immunosupressed, Children with known haematological disorders, G6PD deficiency, Children withb known sulphur allergy, Non-resident
primaryoutcomes Primary outcome is a repeat symptomatic urinary tract infection confirmed with a urinary culture
secondaryoutcomes Secondary outcomes include possible adverse reactions to the treatment, hospitalisation with UTI, Hospitalisation for causes other than UTI, Antibiotic administration for other infectious diseases, UTI with fever
