| exclusion | Current acute illness (including infectious disease), diabetic nephropathy, serum C reactive protein (CRP) of more than 0.30 mg/dL, medical history of cardiovascular disease (cardiac, cerebral, or peripheral vascular disease), cancer, administration of recombinant human erythropoietin, growth hormone or anabolic steroid, or refusal to participate in the study |
