The Review process
The Cochrane Collaboration is an organisation committed
to improving health care practice through the production of systematic reviews.
If you think that you may be interested in undertaking a review for the
Cochrane Renal Group, the first thing to do is to approach the Editorial Base in Sydney.
Enquiries about the Cochrane Renal Group review process
are most welcome and will not be viewed as a commitment to undertake a review.

A Cochrane review is submitted in four stages:
- The title
- The protocol
- The review
- The update to the review
How long should a review take?
A Cochrane review is never 'finished'. There are, however,
steps along the way that we can roughly estimate.
Title to protocol: approx. 3 months
Protocol to review: approx. 6-12 months
Updates: at least every 2 years (an annual literature
search is made by the Trials Search Coordinator to locate any new trials
for you)
