Systematic Review WorkshopsCochrane Renal Group - Systematic Review Workshops in 2008When: Thursday 4 Dec - Friday 5 Dec 2008 These workshops are presented over 2 days as 2 modules:
Developing a protocol for a systematic review is designed for reviewers who have identified a question of interest for review or those new to the Cochrane process. This is a one-day module. We begin with a brief overview of the format of a protocol for a review. A mixture of talks, small group activities and discussion sessions then give participants the opportunity to develop and refine their own protocols. This module also covers locating studies, critical appraisal and collecting data. Data Analysis/Review Manager [RevMan] aims to help reviewers analyse and interpret the findings of a systematic review and use RevMan. This module covers issues related to analysing and presenting data, including measures of effect, subgroup and sensitivity analysis, and detection of bias. It includes a self-directed exercise that covers the major features of RevMan software. Facilitators will provide individual attention and there will be ample opportunity for discussion. Reviewers who have their own data should bring it to the workshop.
